Nowadays when the Romanian internet market has started to become aware of the importance of having an internet presence and not only that, but having also an audience, being able to be found on at least 1 of the top3 search engines (google.com, yahoo.com & live.com), being a SEO “expert” is the latest trend in the Romanian job market.

15 year old nerds, 35 year old loosers, programmers and web developers, marketing “experts” - it doesn’t quite matter - as long as it’s “easy” to do, it requires almost no tehnical skills and you get a lot of money out of it. As long as there are 15-20 people who have reached the “seo nirvana” and the WCE and US markets set a pretty high fee on these kind of services, this “industry” will continously grow, together with the www.

Couple of days ago, somebody I know told me that he finally has website - he found a young boy that was an expert in the field and he also included in his services the SEO thingy. Hmm ..interesting - and what kind of services did he sell you ? was my 1st question - well, my friend went: he optimized my website for 2 sets of 3 keywords - and I am pretty pleased with the result - i show up 1st or 2nd on google and my phone started to ring a lot more than before i had a website.How was my friend charged ? Separatley per each set of keywords - about 150 euros per set.

What’s wrong with this story? Nothing apparently but curiosity made me take a look at my friend’s site to see how come that young boy managed to produce a website and index over 400 pages of a static presentation website, with excellent SEO results in such a short time. The answer was of course “not so black but not white at all hat” SEO - the guy just installed a small script that produces a link directory on my friend’s website - over 2500 links towards sites with absolutley no relevance to the topic of the parent website.

• Will my friend benefit from this ? Yes - clients are calling him already
• Will he continue to be featured among the top3 for his keyword sets ? Yes - for sure another 2-3 weeks
• Will he have long term results? Absolutley not.

All in all, it’s your duty as clients to be informed - to know about SEO tehniques and decide which side you want to be on - short term boombastic results, or long-term but sure to bring you customers years to come result? Once the quality level of the services will increase, we will be able to charge serious SEO fees - almost at the same level as the costs of development.

So, SEO experts wannabies, get serious guys !

The other day we were enjoying our usual beverage (JD) and we realized that the refrigerator magnets were kind’a getting bored. We immediately took the situation in our hands and organized a magnet gang bang. Everybody was more than excited to see that all fridge animals can live together in harmony and enjoy themselves equally disregarding the hierarchical role in the wild.

I don’t know what the event was, but as you can see from the picture below, this gentleman (on the far left) is in “Jack Daniel’s Paradise” - everything around him is Jack Daniel’s and that poor girls outfit is brilliant. Too bad she does not understand anything about the brand she represents, about the fine taste of Mr.John Daniel’s(see quote bellow) beverage. Too make a long story short - she is ugly. But would you mind enjoying a whiskey in a all-Jack-decorated-saloon while a nicely dressed lady takes care of your dirty shoes?

What’s all this fuss about Jack Daniel’s? If you did not get the idea until now, i am Jack’s old no 7’s biggest fan! Love the brand, the image, the taste, the color, the multitude of products (Single Barrel, Silver Edition, Gentleman’s Jack, etc)

Larry Ellison, Oracle’s CEO, demonstrates some brilliant presentation skills. After watching this movie there are pretty big chances that you will "realize" how bad Microsoft really is. On this interview he repeats the same idea several times: “they copy other people software and add it to Windows” and the way he says it gets the idea across.
My favorite line is “Bill and I don’t talk much personally any more…” :)

Found this very funny exit interview on www.tommyv2.com. Some weeks ago I said to myself that I should create a mail filter and a separate folder for email with subject like “Time has come to say goodbye”, “My last day”, etc. It would be interesting to know how many of you, when leaving a company, have the guts to say all the issues that you encountered while performing a certain job in that company. Seems like our fellow Tommy said it all :)

After creating my blog last week I thought that I should update the splash page situated at www.webmyc.com, at least to have a link toward the blog. I owned this domain since a while and I never had the time nor the inspiration to create my own website.
Christmas mood, helped me create a simple layout, nothing fancy, and after a couple of hours, I had, instead of an updated splash page, a full web site :). Feel free to comment as I am currently building the portfolio page and I know there is room for improvement in the other pages. I really need to design my logo as well, so if you feel creative, don’t hesitate to send me your suggestions, drafts, money, etc :D. Here’s the 15 minutes layout:
