Canon 30d - got my own!!!

Saturday, January 20th, 2007

I’ve been wanting for 2 years to own my personal dSLR and that day has come.

Today, UPS tracking reported that my camera was delivered to my friend in US. He will bring it to me on Monday. I can hardly wait. Budget was low so I had to stick with the default 18-55 lens. I also got the Sandisk Extreme III 2Gb CF card. It may take another years or so before i get an additional lens. First I have to get my wife used to my passion/hobby - imagine that it took more than 2 years before I could buy the camera :)

More details to follow.

Black Jack - Jack Daniels breezer?

Friday, January 19th, 2007

A good friend of mine, Danny, being aware of my passion for Jack Daniels, sent me some very interesting photos. Apparently in US Jack released a breezer called Black Jack. From what he told me it’s a mixed blend between Jack Daniels and Cola.

Dude, send one sixpack over for a thorough review! :)

Sizeasy update - great feature for online retailers

Thursday, January 18th, 2007

sizeasy logoSizeasy, a startup covered by webmyc some days ago ugraded it’s services to better suit online retailers. It was a natural step in product development and I can hardly wait to see the sizeasy integration working on many online retailers websites and gadget blogs.

“When we walk into a high street store and see a phone we instantly get a feel for its size and shape as well as how it compares to other phones along side it. This is an example of where online retailers have been at a distinct disadvantage, that is until now. With sizeasy™’s unique sizing and comparison engine online retailers can at last communicate the size and shape of products effectively and offer size comparisons between competitive products. ”

I had the chance to chat with Steve, founder of Sizeasy and he mentioned that: “We have interest from several online retailers who are keen to integrate with the sizing engine and in the next few days the site will be updated with a brochure style page describing what this offering will be.  On top of that were looking into rather different and unique ways we may be able to offer advertising and associate services within the site.”

Good job Sizeasy!

What a day! New member in our friends circle.

Wednesday, January 17th, 2007

Today at 16:55, a close friend of mine gave birth to a beautiful baby boy - Calin Alexandru. 3,25 Kilos, about 52 cm in height - A++. Baby and mother are in great health. I wish him all the luck with his new life and lots & lots & lots of kisses and hugs.

My wife and I are thrilled to have our own but it will not probably happen for another year (or less ;-)).

Here are his first pictures.

Sizeasy - visualize product sizes

Monday, January 15th, 2007

sizeasy logo“Do you have trouble visualizing product sizes when shopping online? If so, try this easy comparison tool”

Sizeasy is a brilliant tool that does just what the above tag line describes - providing 4 views (3d view, front view, side view and top view) so you can easily compare your selected products.

You can select some common objects from the predefined list (box of matches, A4 paper, etc) and you can also input your object name and sizes.

Below you can see a comparison between my Nokia N70, an Apple iPhone, an Apple iPod and a box of matches.

iPhoney - iPhone themes for Palm Treo and Windows Mobile devices

Saturday, January 13th, 2007

iPhoeny
Apple fans have to wait until June to get their hand on the new iPhone but the wait can be easier to bare if you grab one of those iPhoney themes that already showed up on the web. If you have a Palm OS or Windows Mobile enabled device you can install the theme and have a home-screen that looks just like the iPhone.

Apple lawyers have started mailing the bloggers that made these themes popular. It’s weird because they should aim at theme developers but this is how Apple understands to do business. Read more reactions on TechCrunch - “Apple Bullies Bloggers, Again

The theme for palm is still available TUAW - The Unofficial Apple Weblog - “iPhony launcher for Palm OS

Power Reviews - integrated reviews for your online shop

Friday, January 12th, 2007

powerreviews.com logoYou just launched an e-commerce shop and are looking for ways to make your prospective clients buy your stuff ?

PowerReviews.com might be just what you need. With a very easy setup you can have amazon-style reviews for your products in minutes. The best thing is that they are building a database of reviews, including some extra things to gain user credibility - like “verified purchaser” - a system that tracks the order until delivery and makers sure that the person writing the review actually has bought the product.

powerreviews.comJust visit their site and sign up for the beta. In less the one day you will have access to their system and play with it until the official launch. Plus you are automatically entered to win a 30gb iPod video and a Garmin GPS. A very nice business idea that once integrated in many high-traffic e-commerce shops might generate a pretty big and comprehensive review database. Check out the preview on the left.

copyblogger - copywriting tips for online marketing success

Thursday, January 11th, 2007

copyblogger.com logoI am not being payed to write this, but after subscribing to this blog and reading several posts, I can only recommend the articles from copyblogger as some of the best out there.
My favorite articles include:

The author Brian Clark, a serial entrepreneur and “recovering attorney”, bets his money on his writing, everyday: “Hopefully I can help bring you up to speed fast on selling with words, since you can avoid all the boneheaded mistakes I’ve made over the years.”

Brian combines marketing & advertising knowhow with SEO techniques producing some articles that might bring real benefits to bloggers and content writers.
I also noticed his affiliation with b5media, company led by Jeremy Wright, author of famous book - “Blog Marketing

If you know similar resources, please share - I can’t get enough of this ;)
