Peepler.ro {Piplăr punct ro}

Peepler.ro e un serviciu web pus pe picioare prin septembrie 2008 de o echipa faina din care am facut si eu parte. Ne ziceam “Something Else” si aveam planuri mari pt .RO dar din motive mai mult sau mai putin importante fiecare a luat-o pe drumul lui – semn ca nu trebuia sa ne iasa atunci. N-as putea sa nu ii mentionez pe Adrian Grigore – cel care a adus prima data pe masa ideea acestui proiect si pe Razvan Nicu – responsabil de identitatea si primul layout Peepler.
Fiind singurul care am tras ca primul nostru produs sa nu moara, am primit acordul sa il duc mai departe cum vad eu de cuviinta. Nu am avut resurse sa ma ocup cum mi-ar fi placut dar am reusit, cu ajutorul lui Apostol Victor, sa il repun pe picioare – adica sa reparam pluginurile de cautare care incetasera sa functioneze si sa eliminam pluginurile retelelor care nu puteau fi reparate.

Peepler.ro cauta dupa adresa de email pe cateva siteuri ([not so] social networks): Hi5, Flickr, Picasa, MySpace si Gravatar. Nimic inovator – doar un pic mai eficient decat sa efectuezi cautarile respective manual. Marele avantaj? Adresa de email e unica – rezultatele gasite apartin cu siguranta persoanei pe care o cauti. Did you ever take a photo of your ghost?

Last night, my wife wanted to learn photography. Unfortunately I am not the pro I would like to be so teaching was limited to the camera’s basic settings , but we went in the old part of Bucharest and took some pretty interesting shots, including some very lucky shots:
The images below where shot on a tripod with 6s exposure and flash. We posed for only 1-2s and than ran out of the scene. The flash managed to freeze the most lighted parts of us (faces and hands). The rest is transparent… pretty neat? no? Also, these photos were not edited in any way. They are just what came out of the camera.
Later edit: My lucky shots above can also be considered as an easy technique to produce some Halloween ghost images. Thanks Ionut, or should I say “colega”?

ZAN Hotel – a place you don’t expect to find in Voineasa

I just launched the new website of ZAN Hotel (www.zanhotel.ro), a great place that can accommodate you in Voineasa, Romania.
This is not just an article to promote a new website that I created, but it’s a sincere recommendation for those of you looking for a nice place to relax and enjoy some cool days in this time of heat. I’ve had the occasion to spend some days at ZAN Hotel and let me tell you – it was a great experience that I would be willing to repeat at least every weekend (Mr. Manager – do you hear that? ). I was there to take pictures for the website, but unfortunately the weather was cloudy and I could not capture the essence of ZAN’s exterior beauty. I’ll get back there as soon as I can to fix this.
The thing that shocked me most was that you don’t expect to find such conditions in Voineasa – mountain resort that did not attract to many investors and is still considered to be one of the remains of the communism era in Romania. Except from ZAN, you can find almost only old hotels that were renovated a century ago but with up-to-date prices.
It’s a pity this happens, because Voineasa is a great place to relax – it offers you many hiking/trekking trails, a beautiful scenery, lots of activities to perform in all seasons: skiing & winter sports, mountain biking, hiking, trekking, ATVs, horse-back riding, hunting for wild cocks, boars and bears, etc. Also the place is recommended for it’s super clean and ionized air and is considered to be a national health resort.
ZAN Hotel offers you 4 star accommodation, with very stylish interiors, rooms with air conditioning and internet and a bunch of facilities you can use: restaurant, pub, conference room, football field (that can used also during the night – nocturnal) – and in the basement, the best SPA i ever had the chance to try. Let me tell you, this SPA has it all: wet and dry sauna, solarium, fitness center, pool and the incredible jacuzzi. The SPA can be used any time of day and night, and if you get lucky to be the only one using the jacuzzi or pool, you can lock the doors and enjoy the ride to paradise.
Spending some time with your friends at ZAN Hotel makes you feel at home, like you own the place and it’s your private mountain chalet. All of this happens thanks to a friendly staff, a cozy atmosphere and a great cook.
You can book a room online and the price is extremely good: 34€ for a single room and 64€ for a double room – it’s great value for this money.
The website is only in Romanian for now but it will soon have an English version. Please don’t hesitate to make any recommendations for the website – constructive criticism and praises 
are highly appreciated.
