Off to the mountains

I can no longer stand the heat in Bucharest and decided to go for a breath of fresh air. I will be gone next week – in the mountains, Rodnei mountains. It’s been 11 years since my last visit there – I hope Ioji, the self-taught bodybuilder mountain rescuer is still there so I can have a drink with him and remember the old times.
600km away from Bucharest, in northern Romania – probably we will also reach Maramures – famous for the incredible scenery and wooden churches.
I scheduled some posts for Tuesday and Wednesday. See ya soon.
Road-trip here we come – Bratislava, Prague, Vienna
May 30th
In less than 5 hours my wife and I are going to wake up, pick up Hawkeye and some friends and hit the road for a one week road-trip. We created this trip around the Metallica concert in Prague, on June 3 and it goes like this:
- May 31th – Bucharest -> Bratislava – 1021 km – spend one night in Bratislava
- June 1st – visit Bratislava for 1/2 a day and then off to Prague (335km) – spend the next 4 nights in Prague
- June 1st – June 5th – Prague – Metallica, Zoo, beer, photos, photos, beer, beer, beer, photos and some more beer
- June 5h noon – on our way to Vienna (337km) – spend 2 nights in Vienna
- June 5th – June 7th – enjoy Vienna, more photos, more beer…or maybe something more imperial
- June 7th – Vienna – Timisoara – Bucharest (564km + 548km)
It’s not going to be easy but we are traveling in a group of 8, 2 cars and several drivers.
I’ll probably post updates the following days on Twitter – so if you are interested in our road-trip or will be in any of the places mentioned above, this is the way to keep in touch.
I am off to grab some sleep, or should I say, grab a beer with Mr. Sandman

Metallica comes to Bucharest afterall

Although we already bought tickets for Metallica concert in Prague, Metalhead comes with some great unofficial but pretty certain news – Metallica will perform in Bucharest on 26 July 2008, probably at Romexpo. This makes a lot of sense, as they are performing one day before in Sofia, Bulgaria.
Seems that Bucharest is the place to be in 2008 if you are a fan of live concerts – we will host this summer performances of: Kylie Minogue, Lenny Kravitz, Manowar, Nelly Furtado, Metallica, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Kaiser Chiefs and even a rumor that Madonna will perform in Constanta in late May…….wow that’s a lot of …ahhmmm …money!

Internet CEE and insomnia

It’s 1:45AM and I cannot sleep. At 6AM my flight for Warsaw, Poland leaves. I am attending Internet CEE, the first international conference on the Interned industry in Central and Eastern Europe. Considering that I must leave my house at 4:00 AM, I am thinking there is no point in trying to get some sleep as I have troubles getting up in 1h. I’ll just switch from Heineken to Red Bull, take my shower, and catch some sleep in the plane, that is if the wind/cold/fog will not prevent it from taking off.
Last time I was on a plane (September 07) I was just after catching a terrible cold in Oslo, a cold that brought back the sinusitis I suffered from in my teen years. That cold, together with my sinuses vulnerability and combined with the high altitude (I was in the plane) gave me the most incredible head/nose/face aches. I hope not to get those pains today.
I am very excited to participate at Internet CEE and I hope I will come back with some useful information and a good grasp of international trends in the Internet industry. Also, I will try to do some live blogging from the conference, so if the topic interests you, stay tuned Tuesday and Wednesday. Also, never been to Warsaw before and I am looking forward in take some nice photos of the old town and having a local beer or two.
Synced my iPod and BlackBerry, charged my camera batteries and packed my luggage. What else to do?
